Description
The challenge was to find an alternative – with a lot of character – to the popular universal HSS pickup combination. A great template for the neck pickup was a Nowaxx 90plus within a humbucker housing. The sound of the MR1 is recognizably "stratty" but fatter and more powerful, but without any loss of dynamics and sparkle. The middle pickup corresponds to a 60's single coil, so you call for those classic midrange sounds. The bridge pickup is the perfect counterpart to the neck pickup - a P90 with tons of output – voiced a little darker, but also with a very distinct character.
