Beschreibung
Das Grundkonzept des "NOwaxx Cayenne" ist das eines klassischen P90-Pickups, zurechtgemacht für den Einbau in eine handelsübliche Humbuckerfräsung. Wie bei vielen NOwaxx Tonabnehmern ist der Steg-PU mit mehr Windungen ausgestattet, was ihm mehr Dampf für Zerrsounds beschert. Der Halstonabnehmer dagegen ist etwas transparenter und höhenreicher ausgelegt, um vor allem im Clean- und Crunchbereich zu punkten und um dem Lautstärkesprung beim Umschalten entgegenzuwirken.

A bit of story-time:
After loving the P90s Martin made for my PRS-baritone, I had to admit to myself that I just don't jive with tunings lower than drop-C when playing. As much as I like how the guitar/pickups sound in general (and it looks just gorgeous, too), it's just not for me.
So, of course the solution was to get a new guitar in a complete different direction - a Schecter single-cut with 24.75"-scale and in drop-D!
"Problem" was, it came stock with Fishman Fluence Moderns. Now, I like them. I have the Will-Adler-signature-set in my RGA32, and they're never coming out of there. But in the Schecter, in that tuning. they just didn't sound right. And I did kinda fall in love with P90s, and didn't wanna miss them. So of course I contacted Martin again, and he made me a custom set of his Cayennes. And holy hell do they also sound amazing. Clear, aggressive, still dynamic, and with so much pick-attack without being ice-picky. But with still quite a bit of bottom as well! Plus all the snarl, "stringiness", and growl inherent to P90s. And to my ears, the humbucker-size doesn't make them sound too different from soapbars. The P90-character, if you will, is still in there.
Now, the pronounced attack is obviously also because of the higher tuning, but I'm sure it would sound just as forward with lower tunings.
What surprised me the most, is that they are actualy a bit quieter than the soapbars, and that they are so hot (more so than the Fishmans), yet remain so damn touch-sensitive. And the cleans are quite pretty too.
So (too) long story short, I'm (again) very very happy with what Martin has cooked up for me (:
